Post-show rundown: hot damn!

Well, that was a helluva time. We played The 201 last night with Sun Lee Sunbeam and Big Hurry (sadly, Coma Coma had to drop off the bill to attend a Vegas wedding - no joke), and it was awesome. People came out and stayed out, which was great, and all of the bands a) rocked, and b) were super nice. Now, it may not make a difference to the audience how nice the bands are to each other, but it makes a huge difference to us. And the fact that they both kicked ass… well, it was just lovely.

We had a few technical difficulties during setup, but that’s par for the course when you play with technology. Once those were ironed out, we just laid into it, and had fun. People seemed to like it, so we’re calling this night a success. Thanks everyone! You can find photos (taken by the inimitable Pete Hayes) on our photos page.

Feb show announced!

We just got word that we’ll be playing at The 201 in Providence on Friday, February 19th with Big Hurry (from PA), Sun Lee Sunbeam (from Boston) and our pals Coma Coma. More details will be posted soon, but for now I figured we’d leave you with this badass video for the song “Save Your Breath,” from Big Hurry:

Processing… processing…

Believe it or not, things have been going on here in The Inclined Land… big things. Major things. ENORMOUS THI… well, maybe not enormous. But we haven’t just been sitting around twiddling our thumbs.

Unfortunately, most of the things haven’t been the sort to blog about. Bill’s been updgrading The Screwdio. Jeremy’s been acquiring absurdly over-the-top fuzz pedals. And they’ve both been writing music. Lots of it, in fact. Turns out that when we last got together and went through all of the music, we had about 18 songs demo’d to various degrees. And that could be… well, it could be another album!

So now it’s official - we’re back into the writing/recording mode! With any luck, we’ll be playing out again, but for the time being, we’re going to focus on Screwdio stuff. We’ll keep posting, though - hopefully more often than this. And we may just have a few tricks up our sleeves to keep you guessing…

In the meantime, here’s a happy song by a band that we have absolutely no connection to… but it’s a good ‘un, so maybe that makes it all worth it.

Machines With Magnets: tomorrow!

Ah, last minute posts, how we love thee…

Tomorrow night, The Inclined will be playing our first art gallery show! That’s right, we’re part of the lineup at Schwadesign’s art show, Schwalter Ego, at the mighty Machines With Magnets in scenic Pawtucket, RI. Also on the bill are Providence’s own ambient guitar improv master Area C, Providence’s finest ex-pat alt-folky Death Vessel, and the booty-shaking dance duo DJ Micah Jackson (sadly, their Myspace is down, but trust us - they know how to make a party rock).

The show officially begins at 8:30 with Area C. Machines With Magnets is at 400 Main Street, Pawtucket RI. Hopefully we’ll see you there!

The 201

Well, we came, we saw, we were awed by the crowds. As promised, on July 11th, we played a Sound Session gig at The 201, and it was a sight to behold. All of the bands were great, and really nice people. The scene downtown was like something from another world - the streets were closed off to traffic, so all of downtown was filled with people, walking, drinking, dancing… the kind of thing you’d be more likely to see in Rio or New Orleans. We had to stop the gig in the middle for an hour, because The 201 was on the parade route, and there was no way that rock & roll could compete with the force of nature that is a Carnival-style parade, complete with dancing girls (with burly bodyguards), thousands of glowsticks, bands playing on the backs of trucks, and shoulder-to-shoulder revelers.

We finally loaded out in the rain around 2:00 a.m., and drove home as the last stragglers left the streets. We were all hurting a bit the next day, but it was, as they say, “a good hurt.” We’re looking forward to next year’s Sound Session already… Evidence of the least incriminating parts of the night are up in the photo section… enjoy!

A big thanks go out to Mark 75orLess and the guys from Coma Coma, who came out and stayed the whole night, from beginning to end - that was an unexpected and thoroughly appreciated surprise.

The Inclined play SoundSession 7/11/09

It’s a quick turnaround, we know, but another live show has been confirmed! We’ll be playing this Saturday, July 11th, at The 201 for Sound Session ‘09. This should be a great night - also on the bill are Carminda Rocha, Ben Pilgrim, and Suicide Bill. Doors are at 9, it’s 21+, and it’s only $5 at the door. Should be a really diverse and solid night.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show at The Blackstone this past Saturday, and to all of the other bands who played. We had a great time, and there’s proof over in the photos section - a whole bunch of new live shots, courtesy of Tori Drew. We also uploaded some shots by Caleb Cabral from our AS220 show in April. Hopefully there will be more shows in the works soon!

Rockin’ the Bucket

For those not familiar with the area, “the Bucket” is the way locals affectionately refer to Pawtucket… which happens to be where our very next show will be!

This coming Saturday, June 27th, we’ll be playing the 75 or Less Records night at The Blackstone, at 1005 Main St. in Pawtucket. Also appearing on the bill will be the unstoppable Six Star General, the uncompromising Coma Coma, and the untouchable Chris Evil & the Taints.

The show is 21+, admission will be $5, and doors open at 9:00 sharp. Come on down, rock out, and enjoy some of the best The Bucket has to offer!

The spectacle of (shock) rock

You know, one of the tough things about being in a two-person band is figuring out how to make the live performance interesting. While we’d love to roll around on top of the audience in a giant hamster ball, like Wayne Coyne, we’re pretty much tethered to our instruments. And while we’d certainly be amused by building giant foam monsters that spit blood, like Gwar, that’s not really our scene.

Sometimes, though, I lay awake at night and dream of being able to incorporate something like this:

Sadly, I don’t think that many Rhode Island clubs would be prepared to deal with that level of liability. Ah, well. Back to the drawing board…
